The buying power within Canada has stayed the same, though. Unless you’re driving across the border buying groceries from the States, your rent and basic necessities haven’t changed in price.

The dollar’s gone up roughly 15% this year. I think the point is valid because a rise in the dollar is in reality a raise in the minimum wage, so it is less reasonable to raise the wage now.

I don’t know if it’s entirely fair to draw a lot of conclusions about the “lower” minimum wage in States, since until fairly recently, their dollar was worth 20-30% more than ours. These things take time to react.

Despite that quibble, I’m on board with your premise.
