Done are midterms, done is job searching, and now is the calm before the final exams/projects.
It was an interesting job search this term, with 21 applications, 11 interviews, 6 ranks and an offer. One of the interview groups had 8 people with last names of 4 letters or less. I got calls from one employer asking me how I was going to rank them, a direct call asking for an interview, and an email asking me if I wanted a different position. In the end I chose to work as a mentor for PDEng (Professional Development for Engineering Students) (essentually I’m a TA at the University). Yes, I chose it. I could have worked at Husky Injection Molding, or took my chances with the ranked positions but I chose PDEng. (I felt I needed to get that out of the way)
I’ll be working for PDEng 25 which is “Critical Analysis in the Workplace”. I’ll be living down the street from where I usually live and Brandon will once again be my roommate. I’ll be home for Christmas between December 19th and 31st (tentatively) and I start work January 2nd. For now I’ll be content working away at the rest of this term. I am going to Toronto to meet up with my parents this weekend and going to see Wicked while I’m there. I’m really excited to see it as I’ve heard really good things.
